Join us for an enriching 8-day safari through Rwanda, experiencing gorillas, chimpanzees, culture, and breathtaking landscapes with expert local guides.
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will go through customs and immigration, and you will be met by our company guide and later drive to your booked hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Today after taking your early morning breakfast, you will wait for your Covid test results, later check out of the lodge and visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Grounds. Later proceed to Musanze through a scenic route and check into your booked accommodation for a late lunch. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing or visit the Dian Fossey Institute if time permits.
Early morning cup of coffee, then proceed for briefing from park officials before entering the jungle for gorilla trekking. After encountering the gorillas, you will have one hour to observe and photograph them. Later in the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Center for a taste of Rwanda's rich culture. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters and then to Buhanga Eco Park for a nature walk. Later return for lunch, then enjoy a canoe ride on the twin lakes and visit the Dian Fossey Institute to learn about her conservation efforts. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to Gisenyi and take a two-hour boat ride on Lake Kivu exploring its scenic beauty. Proceed for a coffee experience in Kinunu and return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure or visit Atelier de Poupee. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Enjoy breakfast, then transfer to Nyungwe Forest via Kibuye along the scenic Congo Nile Trail. Check into your lodge for lunch. Afterward, experience the thrilling canopy walk in the forest, then return for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, head to the park for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest. You will spend one hour observing the chimpanzees. After lunch, drive back to Kigali, stopping to visit the King’s Palace Royal Museum en route. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to Akagera National Park in Eastern Rwanda. This park is home to the Big Five and offers a wide range of habitats, from savannah and woodland to wetland. Upon arrival, enjoy an introductory game drive en route to your lodge, spotting giraffes, zebras, and other plains game. Check in for lunch and some relaxation before an afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema where you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Dinner and Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge – Standard Room (B-L-D)
Located inside the park, Akagera Game Lodge offers great access to wildlife viewing and comfortable accommodation overlooking the savannah and Lake Ihema. It’s an ideal base for your Akagera adventures.
Rise early and set off for a full-day game drive through Akagera National Park. With packed lunch provided, you will explore the vast expanse of the park, home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and even rhinos. Birdwatchers will also appreciate the diversity of species, including fish eagles, kingfishers, and herons. You’ll traverse from the southern part of the park all the way to the northern plains, where wildlife sightings are particularly rich. After the long and thrilling drive, return to the lodge to unwind, have dinner, and rest.
Dinner and Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge – Standard Room (B-L-D)
The lodge's hilltop location offers spectacular sunset views. Relax by the pool or enjoy a drink at the bar as you soak in the beauty of the park’s landscape.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before heading out for a short morning game drive to spot any wildlife you may have missed. Afterwards, check out and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have a short city tour or local craft shopping experience before your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
