Welcome to the Pearl of Africa! Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed by a Great Lakes Safaris representative and be transferred to your hotel.
Overnight at Karibu Guest House (BB)
After a relaxed breakfast, we will depart the capital city and head west to Fort Portal, with lunch en route. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon” and is famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town we will continue to Kibale National Park.
Dinner and overnight at Turaco Treetops – Luxury Cottage (B-L-D)
Kibale Forest National Park harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates found anywhere in East Africa. Not less than 13 different species live in this small area of 560 sq km, including Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, and Grey-cheeked Mangabeys. More importantly, the dense forest hosts a population of over 1,000 chimpanzees. Just outside the national park, Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary offers walking trails through the Magombe Swamp.
Today the forest opens for a sensational chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is known for its great variety and high concentration of primates. After a pre-tracking briefing, you’ll hike into the forest to follow a habituated chimp family.
Your guide will point out other forest inhabitants, including birds like the Blue-breasted Kingfisher, Black-billed Turaco, Pied Hornbill, and Chestnut-winged Starlings. Upon locating the chimps, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing them up close.
After lunch at the lodge, enjoy an afternoon community walk in Bigodi Village. A local guide will introduce you to the culture, visiting a school, traditional homes, and local farms.
Dinner and overnight at Turaco Treetops – Luxury Cottage (B-L-D)
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. En route, drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park and keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions.
Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch and arrive at Bwindi in the late afternoon, deep in the African jungle.
Dinner and overnight at Haven Lodge Buhoma – Cottages (B-L-D)
Today is the highlight of your safari – gorilla tracking! After an early breakfast and a short briefing, head into the forest for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with a mountain gorilla family.
Spend up to an hour observing them in their natural habitat. Later, return to the lodge and relax or take an optional walk in the local village.
Dinner and overnight at Haven Lodge Buhoma – Cottages (B-L-D)
After breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, one of Uganda’s smallest but most charming parks. Along the way, enjoy the ever-changing scenery of southwestern Uganda.
Upon arrival, go for an evening game drive to spot zebras, impalas, elands, and other wildlife.
Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock – Cottage (B-L-D)
After an early morning walking safari or game drive, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge before driving back to Entebbe. Stop at the equator for photos and souvenir shopping.
